The Stanley Arms after work on a
damp and dark October evening
in 2004. Two sons of Erin with two
pints of lager musing generally on
what makes cities special and
specifically how Britain’s newest
city could become an exemplar of
urban development and a magnet
for investment in the twenty first
century. The list was long and indiscriminate, ranging from
transformer market stalls through
cultural diversity, historic legacy
and the largest statue in the world
to Butch Cassidy and the
Sundance Kid.
